Elsie Welch Garrett passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003, at her home in Comanche, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-four. Elsie was born December 14, 1918, to Luther and Minnie Brantley Welch at Hastings, Oklahoma, in Jefferson County.

She married Homer O. Garrett on December 18, 1936, who preceded her in death after sixty-six years of marriage. Also preceding her in death are her son Homer O. Garrett, Jr., her parents, and two brothers.

Survivors include: one daughter - Evelyn Jo and husband Don Merrell of Midlothian, TX, two sons - Harvey and his wife Sue Garrett of Comanche, OK, and Tom and his wife Meron Garrett of Longview, TX; three sisters - Elva Cooper, Mildred Wilkinson and Lois Warner, all of California; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Garrett were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chisholm Trail Hospice.
