Elsie Grace White was born January 7, 1919, in Tipton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy C. and Ivy Frost White. Elsie died in Jefferson County Hospital in Waurika, Oklahoma, Saturday, October 5, 2002, at the age of eighty-three.

The White family moved from Tipton to Amherst, Texas in 1924. Elsie attended school there until her family moved to Hastings, Oklahoma in 1935, where she finished high school.

On July 15, 1937, Elsie married James Weldon Emerson in Hastings. James preceded her in death on November 16, 1982.

Survivors include: two sons - Donald and his wife Sandy, of Skykomish, WA, and Kenneth of Texarkana, AR; one daughter - Glenda Whitecotton of Hastings, OK; six grandchildren - Mike Whitecotton, James Emerson, Jeff Whitecotton, Diana Wright, Rodney Emerson, and Dina Wood; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law- Gerald and his wife Ruth Branham of Duncan, OK.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emerson were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at the Hastings Baptist Church with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in the Hastings Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
