Elaine Lafern (Cassity Wood) Yarbrough
Elaine Lafern (Cassity Wood) Yarbrough was born October 25, 1922, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Bessie Jane (Alexander) and Ashby Stephen Cassity, along with her identical twin Elizabeth. She went to sleep in Jesus July 30, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma. She was the smallest of the twins, therefore she was called "Tiny" by her family.
Elaine lived in the Addington, Oklahoma area all of her childhood. She married E. P. Wood, Jr. August 3, 1940, in Waurika, Oklahoma. To this union were born three children, Randy Eugene Wood, Penny Suzette Wood, and Donna Lynn Wood.
She and her twin Elizabeth were often seen together. They loved to walk every day, wearing matching or color coordinated outfits, along with their many colorful scarves. Elaine and Liz were known for making delicious pies.
Elaine married Dale Yarbrough in February of 1972, in Oklahoma City. After their retirement they made their home in Waurika. Elaine was a longstanding and faithful member of the Addington/Waurika Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Elaine is survived by: daughters, Donna Wood of Waurika, OK and Penny (Wood) Cullum Landeros and her husband Carlos of Enid, OK; stepson J.D. Yarbrough of Arkansas; stepdaughter Debbie (Yarbrough) Bartek of Belton, TX; grandchildren Craig Cullum and Dennis Lock, Monica Landeros, Erika Landeros, Jared Price Wood and wife Heather, Lindsey Elaine Bickerstaff and husband Kasey, Melissa Mercado, Andrea Harker, and Alisha Henn; great-grandchildren Jalon, Drake, Karmen, Ava, Dina, Blakely, Alyson, Ryan, Kate, and Claire; nephews Grant B. Edwards and his wife Claudia and Greg Edwards; numerous other nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law James Willard of Duncan, OK.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, infant son Randy, husbands E.P. Wood, Jr., and Dale Yarbrough. She was the last surviving sibling of seventeen children including Elizabeth, Ima, Opal, Elma, Edna, Bonnie, Mary, Leona, Bessie, Ann, Billie, Myrtle, Roy, and Paul.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika, Oklahoma. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
