Edgar Big Ed Allen Poe

Edgar Allen Poe was born September 2, 1954, to Steven Edward and Connie JoAnn Poe in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Big Ed passed from this life Saturday, August 28, 2004, at his home in Comanche,Oklahoma. He and Connie Brooks were married March 30, 1974, in Knightstown, Indiana. Big Ed worked as the water plant operator for the City of Comanche for twenty-three years. He attended Grace Free Will Baptist church in Comanche and City Heights Baptist Church in Duncan. He was honored with a chapter in the Book Greatest Americans. He enjoyed playing the guitar and most of all spending time with his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Survivors include: his father, Steven Poe of Choctaw, OK; his mother, Connie Palmer, of Comanche, OK; his wife, Connie Poe of the home in Comanche, OK; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Ray and Tina Poe of Duncan, OK; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra Kay and Thomas McNair of Duncan, OK; three grandchildren - Clayton Breeze, Dillon Breeze, and Trey McNair; one brother , Jerry Ray Poe of Pawnee, OK; one sister, Betty JoAnn Williams of Rush Springs, OK; three half- brothers - Greg Palmer of Comanche, OK, Tony Poe of Choctaw, OK, and Jamie Palmer of North Carolina; one step-brother, Mike Howard of Tennessee; and one step-sister, Yvonne Howard of Texas.

Funeral services for Mr. Poe were at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at the Praise Assembly of God Church in Comanche with Dow Pannell and Jimmy Green officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
