Gerald Dwayne Roark

Gerald Dwayne Roark was born June 21, 1943, in Ryan Oklahoma, to Sanford and Vena Mae Croy Roark. Dwayne passed from this life Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the age of fifty-nine. Dwayne was a lifelong resident of Ryan and graduated from Ryan High School in 1961. Dwayne was the Ryan Police Chief for eighteen years. He was well-respected by his peers as well as by all who knew him. He was a friend to many and took pride in helping others. He was a thirty-second degree Mason in the Ryan Masonic Lodge and a member of the Ryan Church of Christ.

Survivors include: his mother - Mae Roark of Ryan, OK; two sons - Bruce Dwayne Roark and his wife Brenda of Duncan, OK, and Michael Lane Roark and his wife Kelly of Edmond, OK; one daughter - Rhonda Renee Thornbrough and her husband Kenneth Jr., of Yukon, OK; one brother - Larry Roark of Ryan, OK; one sister - LaJean Hawkins and her husband Wayne of Ryan, OK; and six grandchildren.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his father Sanford in 1991, and one brother, J.T. in 1991.

Funeral services for Mr. Roark were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at the Ryan Church of Christ with Rodger Schwenn and Brent Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dwayne Roark Scholarship Fund at the First State Bank in Ryan.
