Donald Ray Stevenson

Donald Ray Stevenson, 70, of Hastings, Oklahoma, passed from this life Friday, June 3, 2016, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He was born August 11, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Clayton and Lucille (Black) Stevenson. He worked for the Railroad for many years. He was a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marines for twenty years, serving in Viet Nam, Desert Storm, and Panama. He was an instructor, a recruiter, and a missile firing surveyor. He worked at the Goodyear Plant in Lawton, doing whatever was needed and as a ban bury operator.
In the past few years he worked at WalMart in Duncan where he met MaryLou Karlin Lilley. They were married September 24, 2012, in Hastings, Oklahoma. Don was a member of the Church of Christ, and the Duncan VFW. He was very attentive to his family. He loved children and particularly enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball. He never missed a basketball or softball game. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, boating, woodworking and tinkering with and fixing things. He loved being of service to people and was a substitute teacher.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of thirty-six years JoAnn, his grandson Cody and stepson Sonny.
Survivors include: his wife MaryLou Stevenson of the home; children - Brenden Lee Stevenson and his wife Patricia and Timothy Ray Stevenson and his wife Valerie; stepchildren Lois Major, Linda Morgan, Nancy and her husband Phil Ellis, and Paige Cummings and Jb Lilley and wife Kristi; Brothers Bob Stevenson and Jerry Stevenson; sister Ann and her husband Jim Blackwell; grandchildren - Samantha, Abby, Dominic, Michael, Cassie, Amy, Hope, Landon, Luke and Creed; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Emma, Cateyn, Melody, and Ashton; many nieces and nephews, many "grandchildren and great grandchildren" and "great great grandchildren" Wallice and Lyllian Gutierrez.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Waurika Church of Christ, with Noel Curington officiating and a memorial from Zac Lilley. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Duncan, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Gutierrez, Matt Niles, Junior Gutierrez, Robert Alvarez, Jb Lilley and Zac Lilley. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fallen Warrior Foundation, Wounded Warriors, the Waurika Church of Christ or charity of choice.
