Dolorus Snider

Dolorus Snider, a dedicated and faithful servant to her Lord and Savior left her earthly family and friends, and joined her heavenly family on June 7, 2012. She left peacefully with family by her side. Dolorus was born to John Woolley Williams and Julia Kehmeier Williams on the family farm east of Wakita, Oklahoma on September 23, 1916.
She completed Public School at Medford, Oklahoma in 1933 and enrolled at the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She graduated with honors in 1937 and began her teaching career at Waurika High School. Throughout her career teaching various math and science classes, many of her students recognized her efforts as giving them a head start on their chosen college and post-graduate degree pursuits. While teaching in Waurika she met C.D. Snider, Jr. She and C.D. were married in Medford, Oklahoma on December 26, 1939. She retired from her love of teaching in 1976 , but stayed active for many years dedicated to creating very beautiful and interesting stained glass and ceramic creations, many of which are lovingly displayed in the homes of her children.
Dolorus was pre-deceased by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, and by her husband, C.D. Snider, Jr. who died in August, 1978.
She is survived by her daughter Peggy Lieblein and husband, Ed of Rock Island, IL; her son Charlie and wife, Sandra of Norman, OK; daughter Maurine Sullivan and husband, Wesley of Duncan, OK; daughter Maurita Hodge and husband, Leland of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Mark Lieblein and wife, Kristy of Golden Valley, MN; and Katie Lieblein of Chicago, IL. The family would like to extend their sincere and warmest appreciation to the staff and employees of Spanish Cove Retirement Village in Yukon, Oklahoma for their dedicated support and friendship during Dolorus' residency.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00AM at Dudley Funeral Home chapel in Waurika with Noel Curington officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Waurika Public School Foundation at P.O. Box 14, Waurika, Oklahoma 73573.
