David Hargis

David Hargis, 65, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life Wednesday, May 11, 2016. He was born July 26, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to L.G. Hargis, Jr. and Mary Frances (Ladd) Hargis. He was a self-employed rancher. He had a life-long relationship with the city of Waurika and its residents, graduating from Waurika High School. He played football and baseball at Central State University and attended Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelors Degree in 1974, with a major in animal science production. He was a lifetime member of Beefmasters Breeders United, and a member of Foundation Beefmasters Association, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers, and Jeffco Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of the Beefmaster Breeders Association since 1966. He held multiple chairs of breed organizations. David was an avid supporter of the Waurika Schools, involved in many school activities.
He loved cooking for school and community activities. He worked in the press box at athletic events. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waurika where he enjoyed running the sound system for services.
David was preceded in death by his parents L.G. and Mary Frances Hargis.
Survivors include: his fiancé Jeri Jessee; his sons Wesley Hargis and Chris Hargis and his wife Jessica; his daughters Jessica and her husband Chris Paczkowski, Leslie Hargis and Katie Hargis; and his grandchildren Peyton and Kallen Hargis and Waylon Hargis.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Waurika, with Rev. Karen Slater officiating. Burial will follow on the Hargis Ranch under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel Monday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family in attendance from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Mark Blau, Monty Wright, Mike Gaines, Roy Bartling, Johnny Griffin, Pat Gaines, Terry Brink, Gary Carter and Frank Head.
