Coweta Bishop

Coweta Bishop went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband Friday, February 25, 2005, from the Meridian Nursing Home, at the age of seventy-eight. She was a faithful wife, and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Coweta was born June 4, 1926, in Stillwell, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Mabel Eastham.

Coweta Eastham married C.T. Bishop January 3, 19944, in San Francisco, California. While in California, she was the recipient of the Rosie the Riviter award for the building of naval battleships during World War II. After moving to Comanche, Oklahoma, to make their home, Coweta was a fulltime homemaker and member of the Praise Assembly of God Church while being the co-owner, administrator of the Meridian Nursing Home.

Survivors include: two sons - Terry and his wife Jeannie of Comanche, OK, and Gary and his wife Gerry of Chickasha, OK; one daughter - Glenda Allen and her husband David of Comanche, OK; five grandchildren - Nick and Tracy Allen, Dana Allen Davis and her husband Jeff, Carrie Bishop Witte and her husband David, Benjamin Bishop, and Sandra Bishop Rhone and her husband Ronnie; and five great-grandchildren - Megan Allen, Breanna Allen, Jacob Davis, C.J. Rhone, and Rowdy Rhone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.T. Bishop, in May, 2002, her parents, and three brothers - Calvin Leo, Arthur Ray, and James Arnold.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bishop were Monday afternoon, February 28, 2005, at Praise Assembly of God Church in Comanche, with Bro. W.W. Harkins officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
