Claudia Ruth "Phelps" Brown Guy

Claudia Ruth "Phelps" Brown Gnagy Guy, 97, passed from this life in Nocona, Texas, on June 18, 2015. She was born December 4, 1917, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to John William and Ellen Elizabeth "Long" Phelps. She was a lifelong resident of Waurika and Jefferson County but she spent the last year and a half in the Yesteryear Nursing Facility in Nocona where she enjoyed being pampered by the staff.

She married Thomas Weldon Brown in October of 1932. To this union four children were born - Homer, Charles, Mary Ellen and Dorothy. She met and married Leslie Gnagy and he preceded her in death in 1973. She had many different jobs through the years while she was raising her children. She worked as a store clerk, dispatcher for the county. Her last job was as file clerk/receptionist in the office of Bill Eakin where she met Odes Morgan Guy. They were married in 1979. She loved fishing and gardening, especially roses. She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Guy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Thomas Weldon Brown, Leslie Gnagy, and Odes Morgan Guy, three sisters, four brothers, her son Homer Brown, her daughter Mary Ellen Roy and her husband Clarence, her son-in-law Jim Pollett, and her granddaughter Kimberly Alianello.

Survivors include: her son Charlie Brown and his wife Gwen of Nocona, TX, her daughter Dorothy Pollett of Mt. Washington, KY, and her daughter-in-law Charlene Brown of Waurika, OK; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; and thirty-four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Guy will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 22, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika, with Ron Wilson of Nocona officiating. Burial will follow in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika from 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, with no specified family time.
