Cheryl Darlene Martin

Sunday afternoon, February 15, a beautiful young woman went to be with the Lord. Cheryl Darlene Moren Martin was born February 26, 1962. She grew up in Comanche, Oklahoma, where she was spoiled and loved by all who knew her. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1980. Upon graduation, Cheryl received her diploma from her dad and she often spoke of how much that meant to her. She was very active in school, a member of Pep Club and Student Council. She was a cheerleader and was Comanche Golf Queen. She attended Cameron University, receiving degrees in Paralegal and Computer Science.

Cheryl loved challenges and worked in many fields. After college, she worked as a legal secretary for Jerome Sullivan. For several years, she worked for Trammel Crow in Dallas. She then moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, and was employed by the Halliburton company. She also worked for the Comanche schools as a substitute teacher, loving and challenging the kids. She then went to work for her best friend, her mother, and together they operated the My Place gift shop for several years. Later, she worked with the Power Shop in Duncan. At the time of her death, Cheryl was the Executive Director of the Comanche Housing Authority. She loved working with the residents and enjoyed the dinners and good fellowship they all shared. She was an active defender of the defenseless. She always had an opinion and was ready to help others understand her point of view, which was usually right. She truly loved and cared for people, which was obvious to those around her.

Cheryl loved her son Stephen with a great mother's love. Currently serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Stephen inspired pride in his mother's heart. At age forty, Cheryl received a special gift from God, her son Wyatt, who was also his mother's pride and joy. Cheryl leaves a family who knew and felt her love. They will miss her always, and as her baby grows up, he will be proud of his mother's loving and caring spirit.

Survivors include: her husband, Billy Martin, of the home in Comanche, OK; three sons - Wyatt, also of the home, and Stephen Welch, serving in the U.S. Navy, and Grant Martin; one daughter - Jacquelyn Martin of Duncan, OK; one grandson - Montana Welch; her parents - Joe and Frances Moren of Comanche, OK; her mother- and father-in-law - Pat and Jim England of Comanche, OK; her grandfather - Alvin Dunlap of Comanche, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law - Terry Moren of Los Angeles, CA, Billy and Dee Moren of Oklahoma City, OK, Dennis and Michele Moren of Duncan, OK, John Kasianczuk of OR; nieces and nephews - Rachel, Sadie, Ben, Blake and Stephanie; aunts and uncles - James Moren, Kenneth Moren, and Louise Land, all of CA, Sue Bramhall of Dallas, TX, Eddy Wiley of Dallas, TX, and Phil Rowley of Rowlett, TX; and numerous cousins and friends.
