Charles Raymond Franklin went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2002, at his home in Addington, Oklahoma, at the age of 74. He was born September 14, 1927, to Raymond Franklin and Ruth Watkins Franklin in Addington, Oklahoma. Charles married Hattie Anderson on December 25, 1952, in Vernon, Texas, at the First Methodist Church. They moved to Midland, Texas in 1953, where Charles went to work for the El Paso Natural Gas Company. He retired in 1986 with thirty-three years of service. After retirement they returned to Addington and made their home with their son. Charles and Hattie were saved and joined the Belview Baptist Church in Midland in 1956. After returning to Addington they joined the First Baptist Church of Addington.
Mr. Franklin loved to fish and go camping with his brother-in-law, Floyd Fuller, and his wife Betty, Hattie's sister. He was an outdoor person who also loved hunting. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Franklin is survived by: his wife of forty-nine years, Hattie, of the home; a son - Dwayne, also of the home; one sister - Judy Bates of Waurika, OK; one brother - Lyle Franklin of Hennessey, OK; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Franklin.
Services for Mr. Franklin were at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Addington with Bro. Mike Bernhardt and Bro. Dee Bowen officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
Pallbearers were Gaylon Wood, Floyd Fuller, Max Anderson, Mike Bates, Dale Bates, and Buford Rackley. Honorary bearers were Jim Sanders, Jim Breitigan, Kenny Morgan, Larry Null, Don Curtis, James Ara, Cecil Ray Anderson, Wayne Harrison, Jim Simmons, and Jay Anderson.
