Charlene Qualls Bookout

Charlene Qualls Bookout was born September 23,1937 in Sugden, Oklahoma to Raymer Qualls and Mary Leola (Sanderson) Qualls. She passed from this life Sunday, February 7, 2021 at her home in Hastings at the age of 83.
Charlene was a twirler in the Waurika High School band and a member of the Junior Sorosis. She graduated from Comanche High School.
She was married to Edgar (Eddie) Earl Bookout on April 4, 1958 in Pueblo, Colorado. From the marriage, they had two beautiful children- Toni Kay Bookout and Jeffrey Wayne Bookout.
Early in their marriage, she was an accountant and bookkeeper for Eddie’s cable company businesses which allowed for lots of travel and adventures. Eventually, they decided to settle back home to care for their parents and opened up Hastee Ed’s. The restaurant brought joy to many locals for many years and became a fun-filled family business.
In Charlene’s spare time, she enjoyed decorating for Christmas- especially hosting the Parade of Homes. She frequented the local casinos where she made many friends. Mostly, though, Charlene loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Jeff; and siblings- Wanda Adkins and Jerry Qualls.
She is survived by her daughter- Toni Bascom of Wichita Falls, Texas; three siblings - Mill Barfield and husband George of Andrews, Texas; Joe Qualls of Hastings; and Rosa Keethler of Wichita Falls, Texas; three grandchildren - Amanda Schroeder and husband Jesse; Aaron Ghaemi and wife Jacqui; Ashton Bellows and husband Dave; and seven great grandchildren - Brayden, Parker, Mia, Coy, Delilah, Elliott, and Miles.
A private, family-only graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 2:00PM at Hastings Cemetery with Jesse Schroeder officiating. Viewing will be Monday, February 22nd from noon - 4PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital per Charlene’s request.
The family requests loved ones in attendance please wear a mask and practice social distancing at the graveside service. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook from Dudley Funeral Home.
