Cecil Floyd Trantham was born February 24, 1928, to Floyd and Leeta Trantham at Henryetta, Oklahoma and passed from this life February 16, 2002, at his home west of Comanche at the age of 73.
Cecil and Dorothy Mae Sullivan were united in marriage May 19, 1948, at Wichita Falls, Texas. Cecil lived on the farm for fifty-one years. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. Cecil and Dorothy celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary shortly before she passed away in September of 1999. His family and farming were his life.
Survivors include: four daughters - Linda Howell and David of Comanche, OK, Deleeta Collins and Andy of Duncan, OK, Judy , wife of the late Ralph Townsend of Comanche, OK; Trish Collinsworth and Roy of Velma, OK; one sister - Pauline McCollum and Bill of Wichita, KS; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, five children - Debby, Floyd Dean, Chris and two infants; and one brother L.C. Trantham.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Bruce Humphries officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
