Ralph Hoyt Buddy Pennington

Ralph Hoyt Buddy Pennington passed from this life on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of seventy-eight. He was born January 16, 1928, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to Retta Adair and L.R. Ned Pennington, Sr. At the age of seventeen, Buddy joined the Navy and served as a SeaBee in Guam during WWII. He married Nona Lee Peck March 2, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Buddy was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Duncan VFW Post. He helped start the SouthernStar girl’s softball league. He enjoyed his work as a carpenter in the Lawton area. He enjoyed being involved in anything where he could be the BOSS.

Survivors include: his wife, Nona, of the home in Comanche, OK; three daughters - Penny and her husband Jim Sutton of Duncan, OK, Linda and her husband Steve Powers of Comanche, OK, and Sandy and her husband Roy Rochell of Atoka, OK; two granddaugters - Michele Miguez and Kristie and her husband Todd Greenway; seven grandsons - Michael Sutton and his wife Sarah, Kendal Rochell and his wife D'Raye, and Marc Sutton, all of Duncan, OK, Jamey Powers and Morgan Powers, both of Comanche, OK, Colby Rochell and his wife Audrey, and Chance Russell, all of Atoka, OK; seven great-grandchildren - Malorie and Mason Miguez, Tallyn and Rydder Greenway, and Jamyson and Isaac Powers; two sisters - Charlotte Young of Marlow, OK, and Elizabeth Libby Thompson; one brother - L.R. Pennington, Jr., of Duncan, OK; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Mr. Pennington were at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 15, 2006, at the First Methodist Church in Comanche with Roy Rochell and Brandon Dollarhite officiating. Burial was in the Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
