Bobby Gene Smart was born May 14, 1926, to George and Eula Belle Smart in Walters, Oklahoma. He passed from this life November 26, 2001, at his home in Comanche at the age of 75. Bob was raised in Walters, Oklahoma, and attended Walters Public Schools. He joined the United States Army in 1944 and served in WWII. He was awarded an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, and WWII Victory Ribbon.

Bob and Wanda Elaine Dear were united in marriage October 16, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where he worked for Fairmont for ten years. They then moved to Comanche where he later managed the Texaco Service Station and Mistletoe Express for eighteen years. After semi-retiring, he worked at Comanche Public Schools for ten years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member and former Grandmaster of the Oddfellows Lodge.

Survivors include: his wife, Elaine, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law - Rick and Alice Smart of Houston, TX, and Kendell and Sharon Smart of Marlow, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law - Kathy and Hugh Stuart of Newkirk, OK, and Carol and Bob Kuhlman of Chickasha, OK; eight grandchildren - Karey Stuart Henderson and her husband Spike, of Newkirk, OK, Nic Stuart of Edmond, OK, Kendrick McDaniel of Duncan, OK, Robin McDaniel of Wichita Falls, TX, Gretchen Kuhlman of Chickasha, OK, Tammy, Heather, and Micki Smart of Houston, TX; four great-grandchildren - Paige Henderson of Newkirk, OK, Blake, Aaron and Trevor Grigsby of Marlow, OK; three brothers - G.L. Smart of Duncan, OK, Wendell Smart of Amarillo, TX, and Kenneth Smart of Duncan, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 29, 2001, at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church in Comanche, with Timothy Ball and Gary Smith officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
