Blanche Elizabeth Beavers

Blanche Elizabeth Beavers passed from this life Wednesday, October 4, 2006, in Ryan, Oklahoma, at the age of ninety-six. She was born on January 13, 1910, to Isaiah and Florence Beavers in Boyd, Texas. She was a member of the faculty at Ryan High School. She also taught at Lawton High School and Cameron University in Lawton. She holds a Masters degree from OU and attended school at O.C.W in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Texas in Austin and also the University of Mississippi, where she studied for her doctorate degree. During the summers she taught at various universities. She worked in the Navy Dept. in Washington D.C., Ft. Sill in Oklahoma, and Sheppard AFB in Texas.

Survivors include: one sister - Vermont Beavers of Kansas City, MO; and second cousins - Dr. Robert J. Beck from Ft. Worth, TX, Carlene Bennett of Iowa Park, TX, Jane Schroeder of Iowa Park, TX, Charlie Tom Kyker of Denton, TX, and Kay Rowland of Villiant, OK.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister, Modena Faye Beavers, and one brother Llewellyn R. Beavers.

Funeral services for Ms Beavers were at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 6, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Ryan, Oklahoma, with Rev. Jason Vance, Dr. Robert J. Beck, and Dennis Cady officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Ryan or to Cameron University.
