Billy Ray Middleton was born December 28, 1928 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Robert Edgar (Bud) and Willie Sunbeam (McClure) Middleton. He passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 in United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of eighty-one. He worked for Halliburton for over thirty-nine years as a system analyzer in the materials dept. He and his wife Patricia made their home in Waurika for 33 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika. He was a member of the Waurika Jr. Chamber of Commerce helping to organize the first rattlesnake hunt in Waurika. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Duncan. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger days and liked to square dance. His favorite thing to do was work. Retiring from Halliburton brought on a new career working as a cashier for Wal-Mart from 1992-2004 and then as a greeter from 2004-2008. He served his country in the United States Air Force as a drill Sargent from 1945-1948.
Survivors include his children - William J. Middleton, Ranell Johnson, Kenneth Burroughs, Laura Stanley, Denise Ryon, and Nina Livingston; one brother - Roy Middleton, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother - W. P. Middleton, grandsons - Waylon Wells and Jason Burroughs and granddaughter Megan Ryon.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Jeff McLemore officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Viewing will be from 1-5PM on Sunday and Monday from 9AM-8PM at the funeral home.
