Bill F. McMurtry

Bill F. McMurtry, seventy-eight, of Comanche, Oklahoma, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, after a short illness. He was born January 7, 1927, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Beulah Freemna McMurtry and Lee McMurtry. He married Barbara Sue Bowen December 22, 1950, in Ryan, Oklahoma.

Mr. McMurtry served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Halliburton in 1985, but continued to farm and raise cattle until April of 2004. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife of the home in Comanche, OK; two daughters - Hazel Ann Sullivan and her husband Bob, of Comanche, OK, and Tangelia Zumwalt and her husband Johnny of Comanche, OK; one sister - Hazel Cephus, of Waurika, OK; one brother - Loyd and his wife Peggy McMurtry of El Cajon, CA; grandsons - Corey Shea Martin of Norman, OK, Tanner Kade Zumwalt of Comanche, OK; a granddaughter - Maci Auburn Zumwalt of Comanche, OK; and a great-granddaughter - Rilyn Shea Martin of Duncan, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers - Leon Bub McMurtry, Clyde McMurtry, Lawrence McMurtry, and Steve McMurtry, and a sister - Faye McMurtry.

Graveside services for Mr. McMurtry were at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Fairlawn Cemetery with Mike McCord officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
