Billie Headrick Helm was born November 20, 1927, in Addington, Oklahoma, to Blanch Frank and Ernest Headrick. She passed from this life Wednesday, February 4, 2004, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Mrs. Helm was City Clerk in Waurika for ten years when she retired in the '80's. She and Bennie Earl Helm were united in marriage March 2, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a member of Waurika First Baptist Church for many years and of the Duncan Christian Life Cathedral. She was an avid quilter, yard worker, and flower gardener. Her loves in life were the Lord, her children, her family, and her friends.

Survivors include: one son, Rick and Theresa Helm of Duncan, OK; one daughter, Jeannie and Bill Green of Carrollton, TX; one brother, Ernest and Margaret Headrick of Comanche, OK; two sisters, Cleo Peters of Byers, TX, and Pat and Jack Behrens of Duncan, OK; three grandchildren - Stephen and Kathy Green, Jana and John Strand, and Heather and James Lott; and four great-grandchildren - Amber and Audrey Green, Kendal Strand, and Tyler Lott.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Bennie, who passed away in January of 1988.

Graveside services for Mrs. Helm were at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2004, in the Waurika Cemetery with John Dyer officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
