Bessie Bernice Roberts was born August 27, 1931, in Clarington, Texas to Plez and Mary Ellen Hargraves Sloan. She passed from this life Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas, at the age of seventy-six. She worked for the Denison Independent School District as a crossing guard at Lamar School, retiring in 2003. Bessie and Kenneth Edward Roberts were married December 4, 1952, in Texas. He preceded her in death February 1, 1985.

Survivors include: her children; Phillip Roberts and Marilyn Morse of Denison, TX, and Jolene Watterson of Fresno, CA; one brother George Sloan of Midland, TX; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 31, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Terral, Oklahoma, with Mark Kunkel officiating. Burial will be in the Terral Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with the family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
