Bessie Bernice Capes

Bessie Bernice Capes was born May 1, 1932 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Willie and Julia Sterling Johnson. Bessie passed from this life Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Waurika at the age of 80.

Bessie and Walter Capes were married July 1, 1947 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She worked at Woods Nursing Home for 14 years before starting in 1981 at Jefferson County Hospital as a LPN. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waurika.

She is survived by her husband Walter Capes of Waurika, sisters - Dorothy Henderson of Owasso, Oklahoma and Ellen Ferguson of Lawton, Oklahoma, grandchildren - Jaquie Dye of Ponca City, Sandra Houston of Meridian, Philip Shearer of Ponca City, and Shelley Thompson of Waurika, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her children - Renay Bridges and Phylis Delaney, and 8 siblings.

Funeral service for Bessie will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Waurika with Rev. Karen Slater officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be from noon-8PM on Monday and Tuesday from 9AM-8PM.
