Bennie Ruth (Bennett) Robertson

On October 26, 2019, our Lord and Savior called Bennie Ruth Robertson of Waurika, Oklahoma home to the glories of heaven.

Waiting there with open arms were Junior, her husband of 68 years, her daughter Joyce Dee and son Alan Wade along with her family that preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three remaining children, Loyce Lee and husband, Richard Alligood, Lonnie Dru Robertson and wife, Donna and Leola Sue Sarratt. She has 10 grandchildren: Morgan Brett Gandy, Lee Sarratt, Courtney Sarratt, Bryan Dru Robertson, Dana Ehthisham, Aaron Paul and Lisa Robertson, Brianna Salyer, Joelle Johnson and Nicole Quinlan and 24 great-grandchildren. She has 4 surviving nieces and nephews: Deborah Jan Murphy, Diane Davidson, Michele Gray, and Les Bennett.

Bennie Ruth Robertson, 89 years young, was born on May 29, 1930 to Owen and Helen Bennett and was the younger sister to Bill Bennett. Her father worked for Shell Oil Company who was transferred to McMann, Oklahoma when Bennie Ruth was a senior in high school. This was a fateful move for the young Bennie Ruth. It was here that she met and married the love of her life. She graduated from Dundee High School the following May and married Lee Junior Robertson on July 29, 1950. Shortly after marrying, the young couple moved to Waurika, Oklahoma where they set up home and established their lives for the next 69 years.

Bennie Ruth was a member of the Waurika First Baptist Church where she had been a member since moving to Waurika. She was active in the Waurika Sorosis Club, the Baptist Women's Mission Program and the Claypool Community Club . She was co-owner and operator of Junior's Truck Stop and Restaurant and subsequently the Robertson Oil Company. Over her married life of 68 years, she supported Junior in the development of the American Paint Horse Association and his world-wide success as a paint horse breeder which culminated in his induction into the American Paint Horse Hall of Fame. She was always proudly known as "Junior's wife". She and Junior retired in 1995 at Claypool, Oklahoma. A life 89 years long can hardly be summarized here, but what resonated to all who knew Bennie Ruth was her gentle, sweet spirit and the unconditional love for her family. Her legacy will be her walk of faith with her Lord and Savior. She embodied the very essence of a godly, fruitful life. She now rests in the arms of her Jesus.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Bennie Ruth's funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., October 29, 2019, at the Waurika First Baptist Church.
