Effie Beaulah Anthony

Effie Beaulah Anthony was born September 16, 1919 in Marsden, Oklahoma to Charley William and Bessie Mae (Gardner) Burnam.  She passed from this life Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Westbrook Nursing Home at the age of eighty-nine. She moved to Jefferson County when she was two years old. She lived in a prairie home near Waurika. She attended Beam and Claypool schools.  Beaulah and Tom Frank Anthony were married December 24, 1935 in Waurika, Oklahoma. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1985. She worked at various places including restaurants, beauty shop, and Brown, Zimmerman, and Eck Drug Stores.  Beaulah worked as a sales clerk for Eck Drug for ten years. She retired just before her 80th birthday.  She was a member of the Beam Quilting Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and other crafts.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Waurika.  She loved her church, her flower garden, and traveling. She took a long trip in a motor home and saw Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite, Sequoyah, Zion, Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks National Parks.  She stood on the shore of the Pacific Ocean where Lewis and Clark stood. She also traveled into Canada. She rode on a boat on Lake Powell, all when she was eighty.   Beaulah spent three winters in Arizona with her niece Glenda Roberts and husband Leon.
 
She is survived by dear friend, Roberta Brown, nephews - Billy Anthony and Vivie, Stan Burnam and Luree, Charles Burnam and Diedra, Rick Burnam and Barbara, nieces -  Capie Long and Merlin, Joann Arthur and Paul, Glenda Roberts and Leon and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
 
Beaulah was preceded in death by her husband,  her parents, sister Addie and husband Claude Anthony, brothers - Oscar Burnam, Finis Burnam, and C.J. Burnam and wife Margie, niece Joann Anthony.
 
Funeral service is Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00PM at the First Christian Church with Rev. Curtis Plant officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Thursday from 9AM-8PM
