Barbara Lamar Moore Sutton

Barbara was born July 19, 1924 in Waurika, Oklahoma to John Milton and Tommy Ostean Moore. She passed from this life Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her home in Oklahoma City at the age of 89.
She resided in Waurika until her family moved to their farm outside of Claypool, Oklahoma. She attended Grammar school and graduated from Claypool High School. Upon her graduation she moved to Duncan to attend business school. She moved to the big city and went to work at Douglas Aircraft Company (known as TAFB) after graduating. Barbara and C. Richard Sutton were married October 3, 1943 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Barbara worked at Douglas Aircraft CO. until Richard had to have surgery. She quit to stay at home and take care of him. She worked for Shipman and then went to work for Mac Supply Company until she and Richard purchased Moorlane Sutton Supply in 1960. They purchased their business and had their only child Rick during that same year. She stayed at home for a couple of years, then came to work with Richard as his secretary for the next 40 years. She was a Baptist.
Barbara loved to travel and had been all over the world seeing all the different sights she had read about. When she and Richard first started traveling, they overhauled the trunk of their car, making a pop-out tent that extended from the trunk about 5-6 feet so she would have a kitchen to cook in and they slept in the car on a bed Richard had fashioned taking up the whole back seat. They went on numerous cruises, took trains and plains all around the world. The only thing Barbara enjoyed more than traveling was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved playing games and it didn't matter what kind of game it was - cards, dominos, or dice, she played them all. She always played to win, it didn't matter who she was playing against from the very young to the more mature, did I mention she always played to WIN!!!
She is survived by her only child Richard D. Sutton and wife Allison of Mustang, Oklahoma, grandchildren - Ashlynn Rikki and Alayna Marie Sutton of Mustang, Oklahoma, Jessica, Jacob, and Jonathan, two great grandchildren, sister in law - Carolyn Sutton and husband Jimmy, several nieces and nephews including very special niece - Delois Nell, and special friends Kathy Ketch, Katy and Merica Benson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years - C. Richard Sutton parents John Milton and Tommy Moore, brothers O.L. and Garnet Moore, sisters - Dorothia Gear, Billie Richardson, and Betty Gay.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 2, 2013 at 1:00PM at Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Rev. Jeff McLemore officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery.
