Alvin Wade Marlett was born July 16, 1911, in Bowie, Texas to Ernest and Carnelia Marlett. Alvin passed from this life Thursday, March 8, 2001, at the Ryan Nursing Home at the age of 89. He was raised on a farm southwest of Waurika, Oklahoma. He attended school at Independent School, north of the fish house, southwest of Waurika. Alvin was a retired machinist from Metalspand. He married Myrtle Lee Pope June 13, 1936, in Waurika. She preceded him in death October 21, 1967. He married Josephine Denny April 25, 1975 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on November 18, 1985.
Alvin in survived by one son and daughter-in-law - Carrel Ray and Glynna Marlett of Waurika, Oklahoma; one daughter - Barbara Ann Anderson of Fouke, Arkansas; one brother - J.N. Marlett of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister - Eva Ona Row of Ft. Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren - Patsy and her husband Billy Dobbs, Susie Anderson, Janie Anderson, David Anderson, Evelyn and her husband Ray Wiest, Jerry Murrach and Justin Marlett; three great-grandchildren - Wesley Blanchard, Zachary Wiest, and Michaela Wiest.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and one very special friend - Beulah Anthony.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 2:00 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Curtis Plant officiating. Burial was in Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Good Samaritan Hospice or Choice Home Health Care of Waurika.
