Alvin Clifford Dunlap

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather -- Alvin C. Dunlap, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Meridian Nursing Home, at the age of ninety-two. Alvin was born April 28, 1912, in Ryan, Oklahoma, to William (Bill) and Ada Donham Dunlap. He lived most of his life in Comanche, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Comanche High School in May of 1930, and became a rancher in the area. On April 16, 1933, he married Willa Dell Owensby. She preceded him in death in January of 1964. On September 18, 1964, he married Marjorie Audra Wiley. Audra preceded him in death in January of 2002. Alvin was a thirty-second degree Mason in the Comanche Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche.

Survivors include: one son - Charles Dunlap and his wife, Ruthie, of Comanche, OK; one daughter - Dorothy Ann Rhodes and her husband Bill, of Artesia, NM; a stepdaughter - Frances Moren and her husband Joe, of Comanche, OK; two stepsons - Eddie Wiley and his wife, Joan, of Burney, TX, and Phil Wiley and his wife Jackie, of Rowlett, TX; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wives - Willa Dell and Marjorie Audra; two daughters - Betty Morgan and Carol Dunlap; three brothers - Bill, Tully, and Howard Dunlap; and two granddaughters - Cheryl Martin and Charla Dunlap.

Funeral services for Mr. Dunlap were at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 28, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Comanche, with Dow Pannell and Mike McCord officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
