Alta Faye Porterfield
Alta Faye Porterfield was born January 5, 1942 in Milo, Oklahoma to W.C. "Monk" and Ruby Louise Blankenship Miller. She passed from this life Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at her home in Waurika.
She and Jack Harvey Porterfield were married in Jefferson County on June 25, 1960. He preceded her in death in 1991. She worked as service manager for Gerken - Richardson Auto Center, for Haggar Slacks Inc. and as a dispatcher for the City of Waurika police department. She was also one of the first members of the volunteer ambulance department in Waurika. She was very proud of being a truck driver cross country for different companies throughout the years. Later in life she drove her own truck on hot shot trips around the United States. She owned and operated her own business Alta's Bag O' Burgers. She was a member of the Jane's organization along side her husband as member of the Jaycee's. She coached softball in Waurika and treated all the kids as her own. She brought many kids into her home and enjoyed taking them to events and activities.
She is survived by her children - Shorty Porterfield of Ardmore, Hotshot Porterfield and wife Sandy of Pauline, South Carolina, Annette Chupp of Waurika, and Melinda Swift and husband Marland, Ricky Porterfield and wife Barbra of Waurika and Jim Porterfield and wife Lorie of Waurika, siblings- Butch Miller and wife Donna of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Ronald Miller of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Jerry Miller and wife Sonya of Davis, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law - Brian Chupp.
Funeral service will be at 1:00PM Monday, December 2, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Jeff McLemore officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be 10AM-6PM Saturday and 1-5PM Sunday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
