Alfred Harris Williamson

Alfred Harris Williamson passed from this life Friday, September 20, 2002, at the age of eighty-seven, in Bethania Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born October 31, 1914, to B.L. and Bessie Harris Williamson in Payne, Oklahoma. Mr. Williamson farmed north of Hastings, Oklahoma since 1942. He also worked for the ASC office and served on the Jefferson County Excise Board for many years. He was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church, where he served as song leader for forty-three years and deacon for forty years. He and Mary Jo Mitchell were united in marriage on April 12, 1936, in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Jo, of the home in Hastings; two sons - Jimmy Harris Williamson of Oklahoma City, OK, and Richard Kent Williamson and his wife Susan of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter - Mary Nell Newsom and her husband Thomas of Temple, OK; one brother - Lee Williamson and his wife Jean of Wichita Falls, TX; two sisters - Iona Teague and her husband Ralph of Madisonville, KY, and Wanna Lois Foster and her husband C.D. of Waurika, OK; one brother-in-law - Chatten Jones of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren - Larry Newsom of Raleigh, NC, Christie Newsom of Plano, TX, Clinton Williamson of Atlanta, GA, and Stuart Williamson of Norman, OK; and three great-grandchildren - Nicole, Carly Ann, and Brantley Newsom.

Mr. Williamson is preceded in death by his parents, B.L. and Bessie Williamson, and his sister Marmette Jones.

Funeral services for Mr. Williamson were held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2002, in Hastings Baptist Church with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in the Addington Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
